"Hey, Sunshine!" I muttered as I strode to the bedside. Her eyes were partially open as she yawned and laid back on the bed.
"Sunshine?" My voice low but she curled herself on the bed.
"That was close," Anna whispered as I pulled the sheets over Laura.
I let out a slow breath and the muffled sound of my phone pierced the silence.
"That must be the driver," Anna whispered as she brought the phone to me.
"Don't be too desperate," I said, collecting my phone from her.
An unknown caller ID glared on my screen and I tapped the answer icon.
"Hello!" I said, putting the phone close to my ear as Anna widened her eyes at me with a smile.
"Hello, Miss Jannie. I'm here to pick you up," the masculine voice came from the phone.
"Alright, I'm on my way to you," I replied and ended the call.
"It's the driver right?" Anna's smile broadened.
"Yes," I replied as I rolled my eyes and walked towards the door.
"You're getting the payment tonight right?" She asked.
"Hopefully", I replied, pulling the door open, the fresh air soothing my face.
"I'll be back in a jiffy," I glanced at Anna with a smile and shut the door.
As I took a step away from the door, the sound of my dress tearing, accompanied with my little struggle, brought me to the ground with a thud. My dress had gone between the door and it's frame while I shut it and now I'm in a mess. Not only am I embarrassed before the men in suit who came to pick me, I also do not have any other outstanding cloth to wear.
"Hello brother", a baritone voice spoke from the doorway. The voice belonged to a man dressed in white suit, who smirked as he approached us at a slow pace.
"Brother? Frank has a brother?" I thought as I narrowed my eyes.
"Bill", Frank muttered as he took his hands off me and straightened up. I looked at him in a bid to get answers on why he had not told me about his brother, but he paid no attention to me. Instead, he walked to his seat as he buttoned his shirt.
I got off the desk, pulled my gown down and was struggling to pull up my zipper when I felt cold hands gently pull away my blind hands. I looked over my shoulders and froze when I saw that the owner of the hands was this Bill.
"Easy, my lady", Bill said as he pulled up my zipper. I glanced at Frank and he had an upside down smile spread across his pale face.
"There you go, Sweetheart", Bill said as he ran his palm around my elbow.
"Thank you, Sir", I stammered as I picked up the file and walked out of the office.
"What just happened!" I exclaimed lowly as soon as I got into my office.
I became so restless as I threw myself into my chair, muttering countless thoughts on why Frank brought total strangers to our wedding, yet he did not bring his brother?
What if Frank also has something he has kept a lid on? What if he truly knows who I was? No, there's no way he had found out. Besides, I had deleted all my previous accounts.
I felt an urge to eavesdrop on their conversations but I refused. "I am ready for whatever that would take place", I whispered as I took up the bottle of water that was on the desk and gulped it's entire content.
Just when I had tossed the empty bottle into the wastebasket, Frank's office door pulled open and Bill batted out of the doorway. I'm sure he noticed me but he headed to the entrance like he said saw no one. I blinked multiple times as Bill violently banged shut the door behind him.
"What must they have talked about?" I thought as I looked back at Frank's door. I dismissed the thought and decided to mind my business then my eyes fell on the file before me.
"Oops!" I exclaimed as I grabbed the file and went on my feet. I wanted to dash into Frank's office, then, I remembered what he said about not knocking before entering.
"Sir, you have an appointment with President Clinton tomorrow and his country is seven hours from here", I said as I walked into the office. He continued tapping rapidly on his keyboard without responding to me. So I just dropped the file on his desk and turned to leave but his voice stopped me in my tracks.
"You will miss me right?" He asked.
His voice has always had a way of causing tingles in her belly, yet I was able to resist the dying feeling of looking at him. I nodded and made to leave but his voice stopped me again.
"Amoret, you have used your lipstick to decorate my face and you do not want to appreciate your beautiful painting", he said and I turned abruptly to him.
"Oh my goodness!", I exclaimed, with my palms over my mouth. My lip print was on his nose, cheeks and lips, and it gave him a clown appearance.
I was able to hold back my urge to laugh out loud and it came out as a broad smile.
"Am I a clown to you?" Frank said as he rose from his seat with narrowed eyes.
"No, Sir", I said as I straightened my face.
"Why did you let my brother touch you?" He asked as he approached me.
"I never knew you had a brother", I answered as he brushed my forehead with the tip of his nose. I shut my eyes and swallowed hard. I did not want him to get this close to me, not after the embarrassment I just got. But here I am, gravitating to the ground as his fingers crawled at the base of my neck.
"Now you know, I'll let that slide", he whispered as he pulled the stray hairs away from my face.
"You're coming with me", he said before he put his lips on mine.
My eyes shot wide open accompanied with my brows sliding to my forehead. I felt a haze in my head and was short of words and action. His lips were so soft and tender as they tried to pave an entrance on my lips.
He withdrew his lips after failed attempts of giving me a french kiss, and I blinked a few times.
"I'm not going anywhere with you", I said with my gaze on him.
"You don't want me to get you arrested for breaching a contract, right?" he said as he pulled my waist to himself.
Getting me arrested was something I definitely do not want. If he gets me arrested, the only person who could save me is Anna and Anna would then find out that the marriage is just a contract.
"Oh no! I can't let that happen", I muttered subconsciously.
"Of course it will. I'm only a phone call away", he said as he pulled his phone from his pocket.
"And you think that would scare me?" I asked as I wrapped my arms under my breast.
"What a nerve!" He half yelled as he furrowed his brows.
I quickly brought down my hands and bowed.
"I'm sorry, Sir", I said.
"You think you can now dare me? Because of a mere contract?" He said and I felt sweat run down my back.
"Not at all, Sir", I replied.
"Whether you dare me or not, I have to get you arrested", he added.
"Please, Sir. Don't do it", I pleaded as I fell on my knees.
He smirked at me as he did a few taps on his phone and placed it behind his ears.
"I beg you sir. I would do whatever you want me to do", I said and Frank let out a hearty laughter.
"Whatever", Frank resounded with a smirk. I bowed my head in self disappointment. Of all people, why would I give Frank such a blank punishment cheque?
"What kind of whatever, Amoret?" He asked…
