Exultation
The next day was a Friday, the start of another wild LA weekend. For the denizens of the one-bedroom apartment at 1167 Bougainville Way it began in much the same fashion as before. They rose and bathed, with Thrall serving as Jia’s maid and Elia showering alone. After dressing – Thrall was allowed to don a robe – they ate and began holding reading lessons.
Thrall got Elia involved this time by using the closed captioning feature on the television to display written subtitles to everything. Then he returned to the old tutorials he’d accumulated while doing volunteer work, and to spelling out words related to life in the Arctic: ice, snow, fish, bear, seal, spear, fire, hunt.
