Chapter 1: Part 2

1001 Words
Madison is my other best friend and is a part of one of the sororities on campus. She also hated Damion, so I know she would be happy to hear the news.  “Girl, we have a test Monday.” Zoey said, pointing her pencil at Camilla.  “Okay? It’s Friday, we still have Saturday and Sunday to study! The test isn’t until what, one? We have plenty of time to study, besides Amber, we’re twenty-one. We need to live a little!”  “If we go, it’s a frat party, he’s going to be there.” I said.  “Girl, f**k him!”  Zoey punched Camilla’s arm, “What this nut is trying to say is don’t worry about him. There’ll be plenty of other guys to take your attention off of his loser ass!” “I’m calling Maddy.” Camilla laughed as she pulled out her iPhone.  “What’s up bitches!” Madison yelled over the FaceTime call.  “Girl, guess what?” Zoey said.  “Damion just broke up with me.” I added.  “Yay! I mean, am sorry to hear that.” Maddison said, barely controlling her grin.  “f**k you!” I laughed, “I knew all you bitches would be like this.”  “Girl, he was bad news! You’re way too fine to be stuck with a nigga like that! Sure, he’s nice looking and somewhat smart, but he’s a child. You’re smart as f**k, driven, a goddess in human form! You deserve a man whose going to worship the ground you walk on. Not a f*****g frog that’ll never be a prince. Come on now! Can I get an amen!”  “Amen!” Camilla and Zoey said nudging me.  “So, what we’re going to do is meet up at your house and get you all delicious looking for this party! And if that worthless slime shows up, we’ll show him what he f****d up and lost!”  I rolled my eyes, “You sure you don’t want to be a motivational speaker?”  “I only live to motivate my girls! I’ll meet y’all there and what? An hour, it looks like y’all still on campus. Come on, you nerds get out of there!”  “f**k you, smart ass. We all can’t get A’s without studying like yo ass!” Zoey teased.  “That’s ‘cause y’all try too f*****g hard.” Maddison laughed.  “Whatever, let’s get our s**t and bounce.” “See ya’ll!” Maddison said as she hung up.  We gathered all our books and cleaned our mess before heading out of the library.  “It’s going to be so much fun!” Camilla yelled as we approached her Jeep.  “Yeah, it’s been so long since the single Amber has been out to play!” Zoey teased.  “The last time I was single we were what? Fifteen?” I laughed.  “You’s a damn lie! Y’all broke up when we were eighteen too. Remember we got those fake ID’s and went to that bar? You had all those grown ass men sweating you!”  “We had those grown men sweating us.” I laughed. “That was hella fun.”  “Well, that was three years ago, it’s time to have the men on all of us again!” Zoey yelled from the passenger’s seat.  On the way to the house, I couldn’t help but to think about Damion. I was sad over our breakup, even though I saw it coming. I was regretting wasting almost six years of my life on a relationship that was failing before it even started. I didn’t tell my girls everything, a lot of our relationship was me chasing him. I used to be so embarrassed, but I wanted us to work so bad.  My parents were high school sweethearts, and I wanted the love that they had. My mom is a lawyer, and my father owns a marketing business. His business supported my mother through law school, and she helped him expand when she finished.  I was born towards the end of her college career. So, she took off for a year then went back. When they were ready for another child, they found out it was medically impossible for my moms to carry again. From what I understand this was a rocky time in their marriage. Not because my dad pushed her away, but because she pushed him away. She was disappointed that she couldn’t give him the big family he always wanted. It took him months to get her to understand he didn’t care about that anymore. Of course, that led to me being a spoiled only child. But I had plenty of cousins to humble me when I got too crazy.  We pulled up to my parent’s two story thirty minutes later, thanks to Camilla’s speeding. Camilla parked behind my Jeep; they were both the same color. So were Zoey’s and Maddison’s, our parents clowned us for them every chance they got.  They were all black 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimiteds, with four doors. The only difference between them were the interior trims. Mine was lime green, Camilla’s blue, Zoey’s pink, and Maddison’s yellow. We got our bags out the trunk and headed to the front door.  “I’m so excited for this party.” Camilla laughed.  “Me too! It’s the first party of the semester, I wonder where it’s going to be at?” Zoey said as we walked in the front door.  “Is that you, Amber?” My mama called from the kitchen.  “Yeah, Zoey and Camilla are with me and Maddy is on her way.” I called back.  “Okay, well dad wants tacos so dinner will be ready in like forty minutes.”  “We’re going out mom!”  “Okay? Y’all need to eat before y’all go out, so have them asses down here in forty.”  “Yes, ma’am!” Zoey laughed.
