Adam's POV:
The girl who I am drawn to, who is my true mate, is a weredragon!
She told me everything as we approached and entered the thick grove of trees, passing it into a clearing, away from the sight of any potentially prying eyes, and then she let go of my hand.
"I am going to show you, but you need not be afraid." Saying that she stepped further away from me, and shut her eyes. Shortly after her skin began to shimmer, bones popped, fingernails became claws, wings grew from her back and her body transformed. Instead of the beautiful girl, a magnificent dragon stood in front of me, with a deep red body which almost looked black, and piercing jet black eyes.
Terror flowed through my very being, and I was about to make a run for it. But then she lowered her neck, so she was at eye level with me, and all I could see was hope glimmer in her eyes. Her skin began to shimmer again, and she reverted to her human form.
Even if I had any doubts that Nuri was trying to make a fool of me, now there were no questions.
She had just transformed into a dragon and reverted, while stood there stumped.
"Now you know the entire truth. So, for now, let us head home. And know that I will not hold it against you if you decide to walk away." Saying this she gestured for us to move back in the direction where the car was parked, but she did not take my hand and neither did I take hers.
We walked silently, got into the car and we drove back in silence.
The only time we broke the silence was when she told me it was fine to drop her at our meeting spot, and I invited that I would drop her to her home, to learn that she was currently residing in a hotel. So I drove to the hotel.
On reaching the hotel, I got out of the car and moved quickly to open the door for her. She stepped closer to me, "Thank you for today, it was lovely! I enjoyed the dinner and the movie. But I loved how you took me to your spot! Sorry about all that followed though." She gave me a peck on my cheek, "This is me saying good night and goodbye." And she turned and walked into the hotel reception.
Princess Nuri's POV:
Octava went on whimpering for the entire return car ride, and the silence was killing us.
When we finally stopped in front of the hotel, I knew I had to be strong, for Octava and myself. We both were losing our true mate. So when Adam opened the car door for me and I stepped out, I thanked him and apologised to him. I gave him a peck on the cheek and breathed in his intoxicating cinnamon scent. The scent like no other.. and which I would always remember...
"This is me saying good night and goodbye." I turned and entered into the hotel reception, not faltering or looking back, and approached the lift to head to my room.
"I am so sorry Octava, I lost us our mate."
"Don't say that Nuri, he is our true mate. The Sun God and Moon Goddess did not bestow us with our true mate for us to just lose him. Give him some time."
"I am so glad that you are positive, but the ride back and goodbye has taken away all my strength."
"Have hope Nuri. You just need to have hope..."
"I will try Octava."
"You are an amazing person Nuri, never forget that. No matter what happens I am extremely proud of you and always will be. And once again Happy 15th Birthday!"
"Thank you Octava."
By then I had reached the room and shut the door behind me. I could feel Octava's sadness and worry, though she had tried her best to cheer me up.
So I decided to take a nice long soak in the tub. While the tub was filling with hot water, I added bath salts and some essential oils, stepped out of my clothes, and into the tub.
I just lay there, in my thoughts thinking how to proceed further, when I heard a knock on the door. I took a look at the watch and realised that it was nearly 11:30 pm.
I ignored the knock and stayed in the tub, but after a minute I heard someone knock again. So much for my nice soak. So I stepped out of the tub, stood under the shower to wash away any suds, and wrapped a robe around me.
By the time I was out of the bathroom and approaching the door I heard the third knock. Who was this?
I opened the door slightly and peeked out. I was stunned and did not move, just stood there gaping.
"Oh my dear, so this is where you have been hiding."
Hearing his voice I just rushed into his arms, the safest place I could be, and tears started to roll down my cheeks again.
"There, there, my dear. Let us step back into the room."
Everything would be okay, he would figure something out.
Between my sobs, I whispered, "I am so glad you are here. I am so glad, daddy."
