Chapter 11: THE FALLEN

1101 Words
Third Person's POV:   She had been feeling anxious since returning to her chamber after the surprise, and now he was in terrible danger. How had this happened? How had they let this happen? As they were rushing towards the keep, she looked towards her mate, and even though he was equally worried, he gave her a reassuring smile, "You know he is stronger than any other dragon his age, and don't forget that he is with his friends... None of them will let any harm come to the others." Till a few minutes ago, they had been extremely busy ensuring everything was in place for the annual ball. The ball which had been organized every year to mark the birth of their son, and although the Draconis clan did not celebrate something as trivial as birthdays since age was not a factor we worried about; she and Adam had decided at the very beginning, from when they learnt she was carrying their child, that traditions would be merged to raise the baby dragon, a prince of two worlds. And then she had received the link from Alpha Blaze... They reached the keep and Adam kissed her on the forehead, and then she leapt off the edge, transforming mid-air, heading in the direction of High Forest Mountain. The order for the dispatch of the warrior squad has already been given. They were to reach the site along with her, if not before. Adam would make sure the order was executed on an urgent basis.  While soaring, only one thought kept flitting through her mind, "This was the first time my baby has gone without us. Someone has ruined his first outing with his friends."   Aidan's POV: Drake wanted to attack with an intent to firstly immobilise and then deal the knockout blow. Though we knew that Odette would use the binding spell once distracted, even I did not want could not disagree with Drake. I did not want to use our dragon breath, as that could destroy the entire mountain; and Drake understood that though he did not like it.  Without any warning, Drake lunged at the creature and aimed for the meniscus with his claws, which resulted in a deep gash and a mangled leg. He immediately landed another blow with our foot and the creature went crashing back into one of the many trees around us and lay unconscious. Drake seemed pleased with himself. Odette immediately cast the binding spells and continued to reinforce them.  At this point Daniel and Natalie came running, crossing the tree line and bumped right into me. Both looked frantically around ready to land blows on the creature, to find him bound to a tree opposite them. Daniel gestured for me to shift back, but I did not. I knew I was stronger in my dragon form, and I would use all my power to ensure Odette remained safe. Natalie went towards Odette; but something was wrong, Odette was looking paler than usual and suddenly she began to fall to the ground. Drake charged forward and managed to catch her with our tail right before she made an impact.  As Odette was falling, the creature's eyes began to flutter open and he smirked, "Little fairy, you do not know who you are dealing with.." as he started to break through the binding spells. We looked at his leg, but the wound was already healing. "How could he be healing?? I am sure I shattered the meniscus." Drake was screaming in my head. This creature was not one of the mystics we had learnt about. Drake held Odette as Natalie checked on her, and then carefully laid her down, ensuring that she would be guarded and protected. Odette lay unconscious, and even though her vitals were relatively stable for the moment, since we were unsure of the cause of her weakness we knew she needed medical attention as soon as possible. We then turned and directed our attention at the creature along with Natalie and Daniel. We stood in defensive stances, ready to do everything in our power to ensure that no harm would come to Odette while she was incapacitated and that the creature would not escape until the warrior squad arrived.  The creature had broken through the last binding spell and finally stood up, dusting himself. "All that mud and dirt... Are you'll not being taught to respect your elders?? But how can I blame you'll.. a werewolf, a fairy and a half-blood weredragon.." He sneered referring to Drake and me with such intense hatred, that a chill ran down our spine. "What can be expected when the purity of the bloodlines is not maintained.. and mystics mingle with those insufferable mortals..." Hearing this we (Drake and I) were enraged, how dare he refer to my parents in such a manner!  We charged at the creature, and alongside us so did Natalie and Drake. We worked together, Drake and me using our claws and extremities, while Natalie and Daniel throwing punches and kicks. And even though multiple hits landed and there were many gashes all over the creature's body, they seemed to be healing as soon as they were made. He was rather unaffected and went on to say "Since you'll seem to be unaware of who I am, let me introduce myself... You may refer to me as the Fallen... But I am..." "SILENCE!!" followed by a whooshing sound, as my mother landed, transforming mid-air from her dragon form.  The creature did not seem to be interested in us anymore. All his attention was now directed at my mother, watching her every move. The creature seemed to know her and based on her demeanour, she knew the creature too. She first went and checked on Odette, then headed towards us. I transformed back, taking control, just as mama reached us, "You'll have done well children... Now let the elders handle it. Though Odette is stable she needs medical care. So go downhill immediately, the chariot is already waiting for you there. Once you'll are back at the castle head straight to the medical bay. Go! Now!"  As my mother was giving us instructions, the warrior squad had arrived and surrounded the creature.  "Mama, let me stay and help." I gushed, but she ruffled my hair saying, "We have got this handled my dear, I promise to check on you'll shortly. Take care of Odette. Go on now." and then headed towards the creature. I went to Odette and lifted her, carrying her with her head resting on my chest, and we moved, down to the chariot; and quickly got moving in the direction of the castle. For the second time on the very same day, I caught myself thinking, "What the hell is going on?"
