Adam's POV:
Seeing Nuri in such a state of despair made me feel devastated. She was crying, and the cause of these problems was someone named Roark. I could not bear it and tried to pacify her, but then she explained her fear was me leaving. To which I asked her "Why would I ever leave you?", but she was too lost to apprehend or understand anything I was saying and continued to cry. So to pull her out of her state of despair, I gently held her face and tilted it so we were looking into each other’s eyes. And I repeated, "Nuri... Why would I ever leave you?"
When she did not say a word I continued, "I have only met you a few hours ago, and already I am drawn to you and feel extremely protective about you. It does not matter what was in the past. But I want us to be a part of each other’s futures. I while ago I asked you to be my girlfriend, getting to know that I am your true mate does not change my feelings or make me want to turn away. It explains clearly why I felt a sense of completion on only interacting with you. I will give you all the time you need to heal while staying by your side as your strength. So let me help you through this... Please Nuri..."
She continued to stare at me, with a look of surprise, "You are not going to leave? After hearing all that you are not going to turn away from me?"
"You might have your worries, but I am sure. I want to be your strength and I do not plan to leave you. Not ever."
Princess Nuri's POV:
Hearing Adam wanting to be my strength, actually gave me strength. But if he was going to be a part of my life and my world he would need to know the whole truth.
"I would like to tell you somethings about myself. Please listen, and then make your decision. I will not hold it against you if you decide it is too much." He nodded.
I held out my hand, for him to hold. If he would turn away after learning the whole truth, these would be the few moments I would treasure for the remainder of my life. These few hours I had spent with him, would have to give me strength.
As he took my hand, we started walking, and I directed us towards the thick grove of trees.
I decided that it was better to start with the information which would impact Adam's life the most.
"So to start, I am Princess Nuri of dragon clan Draconis..."
Queen Athena's POV:
After leaving Nuri and Adam, I linked Devlin to confirm where he was and told him I had met Nuri, and now was returning and would meet him in our chambers. After telling the tracker team to maintain distance, watch out for any kind of teleportation magic and keep a boundary, I quickly teleported to find Devlin already in our chambers.
I told him everything Nuri had told me, besides the part of the mortal mate, that I would tell him after. The moment I was done talking, I held his hand and drew circles on them trying to calm him. I know how protective he is about Nuri, and hearing what King Fin and Roark had put Nuri through he was enraged.
But my clam touches were helping him.
"Please listen to me before you do anything. Do not confront them about this yet. I am sure Nuri will have a plan for everything they have put her through. And we need her to be able to make the decision."
"So our daughter is alone and broken and you have left her in the mortal city?"
"Well... She is not alone and she is not broken. Going to the city has pulled her together."
"What do you mean by 'not alone'?"
"Devlin, I need you to relax and take a breath... Nuri is strong, and she is not alone because she met her mate in the city."
"She met her mate? How do we know that this person is not trying to trick her as Fin and Roark did?"
"He would not do that, even if he could. But he cannot possibly trick her, because he is a mortal."
"HE IS A WHAT?!?"
I was hoping for calm and rational, but considering anything related to our daughter, Devlin became the most overprotective father, being a dragon only added further onto the protective nature.
I hope things were going better for Nuri, because I was going to have a tough time with my daughter's father, and would need her help soon.
