Chapter 6: BIRTHDAY SURPRISE Part 2

995 Words
Odette's POV: "Aidan... Aidan... Look at me......."  I had only ever seen Aidan like this, during training. In a warrior stance, and Drake on the surface. He had held Daniel in a death grip and though Daniel was trying to free himself to no avail. No-one said a word. I tried again, "Aidan... Please look at me..."  This time Aidan seemed to register my voice. He called out to me, "Odette?" and slowly released his hold on Daniel, to turn and stare at us. He looked at each of us quizzically, he seemed unsure of what was happening and why were we in his room so late into the night. And then Daniel climbed onto his back "Happy Birthday Aidan!" and everyone including myself shouted once again "SURPRISE!" He still just stood there stunned so we each took turns to wish him individually, first Princess Nuri, followed by Sir Adam. As they each wished him, he became calmer but yet cross-checked with his parent's and confirmed that neither they nor the clan was in any crisis. Then Natalie wished him, and finally myself. I couldn't help but breathe him in when we hugged as I wished him a happy birthday, and he held me close. I felt so comfortable and at ease, I did not wish to leave his embrace.  It had been like this since the first day I had met him, I could not stop thinking about him. Sometimes I would feel that he was watching me, but I would turn in his direction and he would be busy doing something. Might be this was all in my head. But for now, I had to focus, it was his birthday and I did not want my feelings to get in the way of the celebrations and happiness. I realised that we were still holding onto each other, so I quickly collected my thoughts and stepped away.  Natalie looked at me knowingly, I had shared how I felt for Aidan with her, and though she had told me to tell Aidan about it, I did not want to risk losing a dear friend. "Back to the surprise Odette, stop getting sidetracked," I said to myself. "Aidan, all the decorations were planned by your three wonderful friends. Isn't it amazing!" Princess Nuri spoke excitedly, beaming towards all of us, while Sir Adam looked at her with such love in his eyes. Though always composed, right now she was just like one of us, all bubbly. Aidan looked around to see the black and red balloons hanging from the ceiling, some had pictures on them, some had surprises within and some had quotes written; towards one end of the room was a rainbow coloured ball (a piñata) hanging from the ceiling with a wooden bat kept on a table next to it; a table was set at the other end with some of Aidan's favourite snacks, and then the cake. I pulled the trolley with the cake in front of Aidan, and his jaw hit the floor. I am sure he was wondering why this cake looked so different, as I was aware it was nothing like the ones he has seen before. "Don't worry sis, he will like it, I am sure... And wait until he knows you made it.... especially for him..!!" Natalie whispered in my ear.  I wanted to tell her that there will be no telling him that I made it, but Princess Nuri did not give me that chance, "Aidan, don't you love the cake, Odette spent many hours to get the recipe just perfect!"  Hearing this Aidan's eyes found me "Thanks, Odette!" I smiled and replied "My pleasure Aidan". We all gathered around him and sang the Happy Birthday Song, while he cut the cake and fed it to his parent's and they fed him some as well. Daniel then took the cream decorating the cake and smeared it on Aidan's face to everyone's surprise, except Sir Adam, who laughed seeing this. Then Daniel, Natalie and I fed him some cake too. While Aidan went to wash up, we sat at the table and Natalie connected her phone to play some music, a playlist specially put together for Aidan. Hearing the music when he returned to the room, he smiled.  We then challenged him to break open the piñata, blindfolded, which he accomplished rather easily. We all had some of the sweets and candies which were in it while munching on the snacks set aside. Aidan was so happy, which made me feel happy and satisfied.  It was Princess Nuri who reminded us that we would be leaving in a few hours for the trek and so we should say good night. So we quickly wished Aidan once again, reminded him that we would be meeting in his room before the trek and then left. "I am glad we did that, Aidan looked so happy and excited" I happily told Natalie and Daniel on the way to our rooms and they both agreed.  "See you'll in a few hours! Sleep tight!" I said entering into my room. "I glad he appreciated me making the cake, but I hope he liked it too. No worries I can just ask him tomorrow, I know he will be completely honest with me." I mumbled to myself as I prepared for bed, and fell asleep as quickly as I lay down. Aidan's POV:  After Odette, Natalie and Daniel left, mama and dad wished me once again, while some of the kitchen staff cleared out the remaining food and candies from my room. They then returned to their chambers. I went back to bed and couldn't help but smile looking at the balloons and thinking about the cake. "He made it especially for me, Odette made it especially for me, what do you think Drake I am so excited, I will thank her and tell her how much I liked it while we are on the trek." "I am sure she would like that" I heard Drake respond in my head. I could feel his happiness as well and drifted to sleep smiling.
