Chapter 35: MAGIC

1095 Words
Third Person's POV: Aidan had been listening to his mother, as she told him about her past, but there was a sudden knock on the door which caught their attention and then the guard announced, "Your Majesty, Daniel is requesting permission to enter your chambers." Princess Nuri quickly responded, "Please let him in Trevor, Thank you."  On stepping in Daniel bowed respectfully towards Princess Nuri and Sir Adam, "I apologise for the disturbance," then looked at Aidan, "She is starting to come to. We thought you would want to be there when she wakes up." Aidan quickly stood up, "Mama... Dad... I want to hear the remaining, but can you'll excuse me for a few minutes. I will check on Odette and sit by her side for a few minutes. But I will be back shortly." "We understand, sweetheart. Go on. We too will come to see her, but you head there first. I know you would want to spend some time with her before we get there." Princess Nuri replied. She knew the need of wanting to be with your mate, and though they had to still wait to be sure, she knew it in her very being that Odette and Aidan were true mates, she could feel it. "I am so sorry to leave right now. I will see you'll soon" Aidan stepped forwards kissing his mother on her cheek and waving at his father, and then headed out, with Daniel beside him. They headed silently towards the medical bay, to see Odette's eyes flutter, and they quickly moved to her bedside. When Odette's eyes finally opened they first found Natalie. Natalie ran her fingers on Odette's cheek, "Hey sis, how are you feeling?" "Nat...." Odette slowly raised her hand to her sister's face and wiped a tear that had escaped Natalie's eye.  "I am sorry Nat. I am fine, just feeling a bit tired and thirsty." "I love you Tete, but please don't give me such a fright again," Natalie replied as she stood up to get water but Daniel gestured for her to sit back down as he went to get a glass. Aidan just stood there watching Odette, he was so relieved that she had woken up, that he could not take his eyes off her. I wanted to be sure that she was going to be okay. She seemed to realise that she was being watched because her eyes found his. "Hey, Aidan... I am sorry for spoiling your birthday."  "You did no such thing. I am sorry I could not protect you efficiently." "You did to your best ability. But we do not know who we were dealing with. Do we have any answers yet?" Daniel came back with a glass of water, and Odette drained it within a couple of seconds.  "You should rest. And don't worry, we will have our answers shortly. But can I sit by your side till you dose off?" Natalie stood up, "Sure" and she moved, "We will get a jug of water since you seem to be very thirsty", she said, taking Daniel by the hand and pulling him out the door of the medical bay. Odette and Aidan stayed silent, before he asked, "Has Dr. Linda come to check on you?" "Nat already called for her, she is currently on her way here. She had gone for a home visit." As if she had heard Odette, Dr. Linda walked through the bay door and smiled at Odette, "Someone is up. Let's get a check-up done. Aidan, could you please step outside while I check Odette." Aidan wanted to say he would stay, but then decided it would be more comfortable for Odette if he stepped away. He looked at her before stepping aside, "I will be just behind the door, call me once you are ready." While he was waiting outside for a few minutes, Princess Nuri and Sir Adam arrived, "How is she doing?" "Dr. Linda is checking her right now, but she seemed to be doing okay. We even spoke for a bit." And even though Aidan said the words he was still worried and nervous. Princess Nuri stepped closer to her son, "She will be fine. You just need to have faith in her." Aidan nodded. Right then Dr. Linda came to the door, "You can come in now", and on realising that the Princess and her husband were there as well, she told Aidan to sit by Odette's side while she spoke to them. She directed them to her office and once the doors were shut behind them and they were sitting she said, "Princess Nuri... Sir Adam... Physically Odette is recovering very well. Her vitals are much better than earlier and she is already on the road to recovery. But there seems to be a problem with her magic. Though it should also be recovering, there have been no changes since she was brought in. As discussed earlier, I want her to stay for a few more days, to keep her under observation. Once her magic returns and it is stable, I will discharge her. However, this should not have been the case. So we will have to wait and watch." They thanked Dr. Linda and went to the medical bay to see Aidan talking to Odette about a nick-name, while Odette was turning a bright shade of pink. "So what did we miss?" Sir Adam asked. "Nothing dad, I was just teasing Tete here." "Tete?" Princess Nuri asked, "It is what Natalie called Odette when she came to..." Aidan replied smirking. "Princess Nuri, it is a pet name from when we were younger" and then looking at Aidan she continued "Even Nat used to tease me in the same manner." "Aidan, don't be mean." Princess Nuri said as she looked sternly at Aidan, then she turned a loving gaze towards Odette "Dr. Linda says you will need to stay here a few more days before you are discharged. I have already sent a word that today's ball will be postponed until my son's dear friend can be present for the celebrations. So for now rest." Odette thanked Princess Nuri and Sir Adam and turned to Aidan telling him that she was going to shut her eyes for a while. He excused himself and stepped away with his parents to allow Odette to get the rest she needed. They were going back towards his parent's chambers when he paused and asked them, "What did Dr. Linda say? Why does Odette have to stay for a few more days in the medical bay?" Adam told his son what the doctor had said. In despair, Aidan responded, "This happened because I could not protect her..."
