Chapter 37: SOME MORE QUESTIONS

Third Person's POV:

On her way back to the medical bay Princess Nuri linked Adam, "Honey, what are Odette's stats? Any improvements in her magic levels?" "There seemed to be an increase a few minutes ago, but now it is stable, not going down or up." "Okay. Are you'll still in the medical bay?  I am on my way there right now." "Yes sweetheart, Aidan wanted to wait here till you came back, and I agreed with him." "I will be at the medical bay in a few minutes. See you'll soon."

She moved quickly and as she entered the medical bay she checked on Odette was sound asleep by now. Then she turned to a waiting Aidan and Adam, "I spoke to him..."

Adam looked stunned, but before he could say anything he directed Princess Nuri, as Aidan followed. "You did what?!?" "Adam, honey, I needed to know what was the link between him and Odette. And I figured it out." 

"But you went and spoke to him yourself? Please tell me that you called in for backup."

"Of course I called in for backup. Honey, please don't do this."

"I am not trying to do anything. I know what you went through the last time he was here... I am worried about you..."

"But you need to trust me, honey." "You know I trust you completely."

Adam seemed to calm down a bit, but his expression still showed concern for his mate. Aidan knew what Roark had done to his mother if only partially, but it was beyond infuriating. And now he knew that beast had not only hurt Odette but his mother as well.

Seeing the two males pondering Princess Nuri continued, "So it seems that he has linked Odette and his magic, but there is a loophole. Adam I had told you to watch Odette's magic levels and they did increase for a bit and then stopped at the specific point to which it had risen. Am I correct?"

Adam nodded.

Princess Nuri continued, "When he told me that he had linked their magic, I decided to test it. So I removed his cuffs for a few minutes." She saw that Adam was about to react again and while talking she quickly went to his side and held his hand, calming him at least for the moment, "Now we know that no magic other than the magic of the cuff, can be used in the special containment cell that was constructed. That was the primary motive when it was being built, along with multiple other criteria. And the purpose of the cuffs is to block use and replenishing of magic. So when I took the cuffs off, Odette's magic started to return, and when I put them back on it stopped at that very point. But Roark does not know that. And we can use that to our advantage. I am going to call Nina, and we will come up with a plan to unlink Odette from him."

Neither Adam nor Aidan reacted for a few seconds. And then Adam turned to Aidan, "Son, I need to talk to your mother for a bit, come by our chambers in some time. I will have your mother link you when you can." Aidan could only imagine what his father was feeling at the current moment, he had known about Roark, The Fallen, for only a few hours and he was enraged at the thought of him. Princess Nuri came and gave Aidan a quick kiss on the cheek before going along with Adam towards their chambers.

Aidan decided to go and sit with Odette for a while longer. So he returned to the medical bay and watched as Odette slept from mere exertion.

Princess Nuri and Adam reached their chambers and once the door was shut behind them, Adam engulfed her into a tight hug.

"That is something I was not expecting. I thought you would be mad at me."

He then pulled away to look at her keenly, checking if she was physically hurt in any way.

"Oh, trust me I am mad. But I also know you better than myself. You will do anything in your power to keep your family and clan safe. And so I implore you to not put yourself in any kind of danger, because you know what will happen to Aidan, every member of the clan and me if anything happens to you."

Princess Nuri had been trying to protect everyone and had not realised the distress she was causing them while trying to handle the situation single-handedly; especially the pain she was causing her mate. 

"I will be careful, especially for Aidan and you. But something was weird."

"What?"

"Back then he used to call me baby when we were alone, now he keeps calling me my love. I don't understand why..."

Adam again pulled her close to him, he knew the pain she must have been going through with old wounds being opened and knew he had to comfort and support her while solving the problem along with her.
