Cody paused to think it through. “Doubt it. Those two aren’t supposed to show up in public. If she took them, they'd have to stay in a hotel. Ms. Lewis wouldn’t let that happen.”
James nodded, thoughtful. “You’ve got a point.”
“So there’s really nothing to stress about. The kids are staying in North City, and she’s definitely coming back.”
James nodded again, then deliberately shifted the topic. “Anyway, enough about her. Let’s just watch something. You’re staying here tonight.”
While watching, Cody ended up dozing off, but James couldn't sleep at all. His body was dead tired, but his mind wouldn’t shut up. He flipped between apps on his phone, trying to distract himself.
That’s when he caught the trending topic and instantly woke Cody for damage control.
