This particular MV was being directed by Raymond Taylor—and yeah, the guy was every bit as full of himself as his reputation suggested. Sure, Spencer had told him to treat Maria well, but Taylor just saw her as someone who got in through connections. He said okay, but deep down, he didn’t take her seriously at all.
The MV’s plot? A guy and a girl meet, fall in love, and then break up over petty stuff. They tried to stuff way too much into such a short piece, and the plot barely made sense. Even the song sounded like some throwaway tune made quick to cash in on the buzz between Maria and James. Total filler content.
The only thing that seemed remotely legit was that they managed to hire Raymond Taylor to direct the MV. That was no small feat.
