After confirming Grace had officially left the company, Maria transferred her twenty grand to help her out.
Grace’s salary wasn’t low, sure, but she'd only been at the company for less than a year. With rent, daily expenses, and being at an age where appearance matters a lot, it wasn’t surprising she hadn’t saved much. Maria figured she could help a little, so she did.
After work, Maria originally wanted to drop by the hospital to visit her. She sent Grace a message, but there was no reply. Worried that a call might disturb her, Maria sent another text instead, offering help if Grace needed anything.
Not long after, her phone rang. She thought it might be Grace, but it turned out to be an unknown number.
