“Why didn"t you say that at the time, Alicia? Why didn"t you say he was your brother?” It was Susan who asked. Rupert and Giles looked vacantly at one another, until Rupert was the first who spoke.
“I don"t understand why you went to all this trouble to tell us. Why go all the way around the houses talking about lies when it was your brother you wanted to speak about?”
“It would have made no difference to the outcome of the trial.” It was Giles who spoke, addressing Rupert.
“What about when you went to court to watch Marcus being tried? Did you not want to say anything then?” Susan asked.
“I couldn"t see how my relationship to Bobby Brown would have helped. I thought it would compromise Marcus at the trial. I didn"t want to make things worse for him.”
