She leaned closer, peering into the depths. “What do you want?” she whispered, half-expecting a reply.
Suddenly, a chilling breeze swept through, and she felt cold fingers brush against her neck. Panic surged within her, breaking the spell.
“Help!” she screamed, stumbling back.
Farhan burst through the trees, grabbing her just as she fell. “What were you thinking?” he shouted, fear evident in his eyes.
“I… I heard them! They called my name!” Laila cried, trembling.
They fled back to the cabin, the whispers now fading into the night. They locked the door, hearts racing, but the feeling of dread hung heavy.
“I can’t believe I almost went to the well,” Laila said, shaking as she sank onto the couch.
“Maybe we should leave,” Naila suggested, her voice barely above a whisper.
“No way! I’m not letting some ghost story ruin our trip,” Arif said, trying to sound brave.
“Let’s just try to sleep,” Farhan suggested, but the group was too shaken.
The next morning, they packed up quickly, eager to leave. The forest felt alive, watching them as they made their way to the car.
“I can’t believe we let ourselves get freaked out by a story,” Arif said, trying to lighten the mood.
“Maybe it wasn’t just a story,” Naila said softly. “We can’t ignore what happened.”
