Chapter 9: The Release
As they completed the incantation, the whispers crescendoed into a harmonious chorus. The wind picked up, swirling around them, and the ground shook violently.
Then, with a brilliant flash of light, a soft glow emerged from the well. Shadows began to rise, forming shapes that hovered before them. They were spectral figures, the trapped souls, their faces filled with gratitude.
“Thank you,” a voice echoed, resonating through the air. “You have freed us.”
The figures began to dissolve into the light, leaving behind a sense of peace and relief. The air grew warm, and the oppressive weight that had hung over them dissipated.
“We did it,” Laila breathed, tears of relief filling her eyes.
Farhan pulled her into a tight embrace. “You were incredible,” he whispered, admiration flooding his voice.
“Together, we were incredible,” Laila replied, smiling through her tears.
The group stood in awe, witnessing the final moments of the souls’ release. The forest felt alive with gratitude, the whispers now transformed into a gentle breeze, carrying a sense of peace.
With the spirits free, the group returned to the cabin, the once ominous atmosphere now replaced with warmth and tranquility. They packed their belongings, eager to leave the haunted past behind.
As they drove away, Laila felt a sense of closure wash over her. “I can’t believe we faced that together,” she said, glancing at her friends.
