Dodging his thrust, I tossed a pillow at him, While using the springs from the bed to rise into the air. Crimson Queen? I like it. I swiftly slashed across his neck, watching as he gasped for air. He bled out as he crumpled to the ground.
“Impressive”
“Whose, there?” Out from the shadows walked Zena tossing in front of her another would be assassin.
“Almost a 10 out of 10.” The two ladies circled as they sized each other up.
“Who sent you? Friend or foe?” Zena lunged at me as I quickly dodged her attack, that went on for awhile until I realized she had no intention of actually harming me and went on the offensive. I was smaller than her but definitely faster, as I attacked her in quick succession. As we fought I couldn’t help but realize despite all of the noise not servant or guard had come to check out what was going on. Finally as I decided to end our little dance
Zena dropped her two daggers and knelt before me on the floor.
“Zeno accepts you as her master.” Being in mid swing as I was it was comical really as I pulled up cutting off a sliver of cloth from her clothing and falling dramatically to the floor.
“You…what?”
“Zeno accepts this Queen as her new master.” At this point confusion was evident on my face, as I stared down my enemy turned ally.
“New master? Aren’t you here to kill me like these 2 guys.” Motioning to the bloodied bodies on the floor Leanora eyed Zena with caution.
“I was sent by Lady Zepora as your guard but I had not intention of following a spoiled little Queen who knew nothing about the world.”
“What so you planned to kill me or watch me be killed? Some guard you are.” Rising to her feet Zeno smirked as she replaced her daggers back into place.
“When I was called for I thought I would be serving lady Zepora herself beside Master Cruz but you can only imagine my disappointment when I was told I would be guarding you instead.”
“Oh the horror.” I exclaimed in a mocking voice. Zena simply shrugged as she plopped into a chair nearby.
“Lady Zepora told me to watch you and see and if I changed my mind I could choose another position.” Raising a brow I looked at her,
“And?” Leaning forward in the chair she grinned like a Cheshire cat.
“And after just one night here with you I’ve realized as long as I stick to the “Crimson Queen” I will never lack entertainment and fun.” Yeah because watching a kid fight for her life is so fun.
“Well that’s me always here to entertain with my life on the line.” Shaking my head and sighing I couldn’t help but think what Zepora was thinking when she sent such a character over to me. “ Whatever, let’s just get rid of these bodies and head back to bed I’m exhausted.” Jumping to her feet she poured some powder over the bodies making them and the blood turn into dust as it all blew away out of the now opened balcony door.
“What? How did you do that? What is that powder?”
“Just a little something I picked up for an Alchemist.” Wide eyed I stared at her amazed. I had always heard of how amazing Alchemy was, but I had never seen it at work up close.
“I bet that’s the same stuff the Black Mist Assassin uses in his work as well, that’s why they never can find the bodies of his victims.”
“Her victims.”
“Huh.” As the last bit of dust flew out the door Zena turned back to me.
“You said “his” and the term is “her”.” Confused I stepped closer to Zeno as she secured the glass doors.
“You KNOW who the Black Mist is?” Not to sound too crazy but I had always head of the great skills that the Black Mist had. Not to mention he or better yet she was like a legend among the slums. Looking at me perplexedly Zena simply replied,
“Know her? I AM her.” Completely taken aback by this revelation I screamed,
“You’re the Black mist!?”
