Tierney would never get enough of this palace with its winding halls, friendly servants, and even guards who smiled. There was a love for their kingdom in their eyes, but through it all, she could sense a weariness. They’d been through a lot. Losing their palace and hiding in the woods before taking it back. Fighting many battles for their lives.
And they didn’t believe they’d find relief any time soon.
This morning, Tierney woke before Gulliver, avoiding him in favor of exploring on her own. She loved her friend, but he’d grown cautious since the war, despite growing up a thief. Now, he never wanted to do anything to disappoint Griff or others protecting him. Never wanted to go where they weren’t supposed to or ask intrusive questions. She had no such qualms.
