Chapter 3: *Chapter 3: Beneath the Surface* Over the next few days, Lord Cassius couldn't shake the memory of Lyra's enchanting music and captivating smile. He found himself thinking about her more often than he cared to admit. Determined to learn more about her, he instructed his assistant to arrange a private meeting with Lyra at his estate. The day of the meeting arrived, and Lord Cassius waited anxiously in his study. When Lyra was announced, he rose from his chair, his eyes locking onto hers as she entered the room. She looked even more beautiful in the soft light of his study, her hair styled simply and her dress a modest yet elegant gown. "Miss Flynn, thank you for coming," Lord Cassius said, his voice smooth as he gestured to a chair. Lyra smiled and took a seat, her eyes darting around the room before settling on him. "Thank you for having me, Lord Blackwood," she replied, her voice soft. Lord Cassius sat down behind his desk, steepling his fingers as he regarded her. "I must say, I'm intrigued by your music, Miss Flynn. There's something about it that seems...almost otherworldly." Lyra's eyes dropped, and she fidgeted with her gloves, a habit Lord Cassius had noticed before. "I don't know what to say, Lord Blackwood," she said. "I just...feel the music, I suppose." Lord Cassius's eyes narrowed. He sensed there was more to Lyra's music than she was letting on, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He decided to probe a bit deeper. "Tell me, Miss Flynn," he said, his voice low and persuasive. "What do you hope to achieve with your music? Do you have any ambitions beyond these charity events?" Lyra's eyes flashed with a hint of vulnerability, and for a moment, Lord Cassius saw a glimpse of something more beneath her surface. "I...I just want to share my music with others, Lord Blackwood," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I want to make a difference, somehow." Lord Cassius's heart skipped a beat. He hadn't expected Lyra to be so...honest. He felt a pang of curiosity, a desire to know more about this enigmatic young woman. As they talked, Lord Cassius found himself becoming more and more drawn to Lyra. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt this way about someone. But despite his growing attraction, he couldn't shake the feeling that Lyra was hiding something from him. "I'd like to help you achieve your ambitions, Miss Flynn," he said, his voice low and sincere. "Would you be willing to let me help you?" Lyra's eyes widened, and she hesitated for a moment before nodding. "I'd be grateful, Lord Blackwood," she said. Lord Cassius smiled, feeling a sense of triumph. He knew he'd just taken another step in uncovering the secrets behind Lyra's enchanting music. But little did he know, their encounter was only the beginning of a journey that would change both of their lives forever. As the meeting drew to a close, Lord Cassius walked Lyra to the door, his hand brushing against hers. He felt a jolt of electricity run through his body, and he knew he had to be careful. He wasn't used to feeling this way about anyone. "I'll be in touch soon, Miss Flynn," he said, his voice low and husky. Lyra smiled, her eyes sparkling with warmth. "I look forward to it, Lord Blackwood," she replied. As she left, Lord Cassius couldn't help but wonder what other secrets Lyra might be hiding. He was determined to find out.
