Chapter 10 John rolled up to Arrivals at the St. John’s International Airport Newfoundland, Canada, and managed to wait a minute before a car behind him honked. He looked in the rear-view mirror to see a big woman with bright red hair giving him the finger from a black SUV. John recalled driving an SUV once, in a presidential parade greeting a foreign dignitary from Peru. They were unnecessarily large vehicles, and even at the time he had felt sheepish driving the hulking car down the streets of Washington. He gave the woman a frown and kept his foot on the brake.
