Chapter 16 John was a firm believer that no mission should have calm. Just as a weight lifter continually upped the weights they lifted, nothing should plateau. Natural slow-down points happened all the time. Sometimes John found himself undercover, blending into a community and observing a target for weeks or even months before being ordered to move in. There were lulls. But when something remained calm and comfortable, that was always a warning sign. The action last night had spurred him. John was certain that if he and Marcela didn’t execute their mission soon, Esteban would prod them anxiously.
