What have you done?

Macy The next morning, my father and brothers woke me with a loud growl and a mind link from my oldest brother-Michael. Michael was next in line of all the Magnolia clan to be Alpha. As I make my way down the hall to my father’s office, I walked into a mess. Michael was holding dad down and trying to keep his wolf at bay. Micha was sitting calmly in the chair across from my dad. Mason, Matthew, Malachi, Marcus were standing next to him in shock. These men are a sight to behold. Even my dad looked more like a brother than my father. “What is going on, I was having the most wonderful dream.” “These nutcases are going crazy, because I enlisted yesterday to join the Marines.” That’s funny, I thought I heard my youngest brother, the one closest to my age. My partner in crime and best friend, second to Eden, said he was joining the Marines. Before I knew what was happening, my hand was swinging and smacking Micha in the back of the head. “What were you thinking? Don’t you know our kind cannot fight in a war? What will happen when you get shot only to heal at rapid speed? People are going to ask questions.” Micha did not think about that. “What are you going to do, change everyone so they can’t talk about your super human healing speed?” Enough, my father shouted. The room fell silent as my dad stood and walked to the window. He spoke so low only someone with wolf’s hearing could hear him. “Your mother, wanted so much for you guys. I know that since I lost that piece of my soul 17 years ago when she passed, I have tried to do right and teach you all the way of life. As upset as I am that you joined without considering the pack and the need for you here at home, I am proud of the man you have become. I will support you in this choice and be here for you when you return. Just remember, we have to keep our kind hidden. If humans find out, war will be the least of our worries.” Micha stood and gave dad a big man hug and told all of us, “I will make it back, and I will make you all proud.” With tears in my eyes, I hugged him so tight I felt like I was going to cut his air supply off. We all stayed and talked about when he would leave for basic, what he would do about his last year of college and the football team. Micha, in all his glory, just simply said “it will all work out, nothing to worry about.” Jace I had trouble sleeping knowing that I had to leave the base at 0400 in the morning and fly from Georgia to the west coast to catch my military issued flight to Iran. They have assigned me a post with the JAG and Intelligence unit. I will basically do recon and research for the Intelligence department. At least I should stay pretty safe, not on the front lines. Before I went to sleep last night, Micha came over and told me what he did. I know how close his family is, so it will be interesting to see how they react. Speaking of Micha’s family. ***Flashback***“So, tell me about your little sister. Do you know who she got as her pen-pal?” “She got Sarah, a girl from our community. Why such an interest in my sister? You know that will never happen. You think I am bad. You don’t know the half of it with the brothers. Goddess knows who ever she ends up mat..marring will have to be a very special someone.” There are times with Micha says a word and catches himself before he finishes that word, just like mate he changed to marry. So, they are very protective of her. That’s good. “One less thing I have to worry about,” I said. Micha glares at me for a moment, then says “She is none of your worry,” worries took me at the strong pull I felt to protect and guard her. I could not explain it. Macy Magnolia was forever etched in my mind. Micha I know, I know. I jumped at the chance to help without thinking. I just heard all the stuff the coach told us and could not sit around and let terrorists destroy our country. I signed up immediately. I was sitting in my father’s office while he and my brothers were yelling about how stupid I was. When Macy popped me on the back of the head and started asking me what I was thinking, all I could think of was how much I would miss her silly face and her friend Eden, “where did that come from.” I thought. I calmly took the berating and waited for the room to calm down. I thought back to last night with Jace and how he seemed to be worried about my sister. I never thought Jace was supernatural. I know he is no wolf. But something about him when he let his guard down last night was different. I’ll have to remember to ask him next time I see him. I mean yeah, he was super-fast, very intelligent and an all-round great guy. I should have known that super speed came from somewhere. Dad broke up the fighting with a loud yell to tell us it was time to calm down and let him be heard. I love my dad; he is the best man I know. If humans find out, war will be the least of our worries.” With tears in my eyes for the first time in a very long time, I hugged my dad as tight as I could, and made sure he knew how much I loved him.
