How she narrated what happened to her that night was different from the day she told us. It was difficult to listen to. Maybe because my feelings for her weren’t as deep as how I feel for her today.
I mean, I was crazy over her, but right now, I was sure about why she meant more than anything to me. We were entwined by a sacred bond. And I didn’t know what I would do if something happened to her in my watch. It would shatter me and break me into pieces.
The silence between us as we both headed to bed stretched until we were both inside the duvet. Without a word, she turned her back on me, and it felt like someone just stabbed me in the chest.
