I woke up, and I didn’t realize I was already in the room. A private room, to be precise. After I came from the CT Scan, the police took my statement, and I felt instantly drowsy.
I must have fallen asleep. I was already wearing a blue hospital gown. Then I saw Mom sitting in the corner. She looked upset, looking down at her hands.
“Mom?”
With her eyes lighting up, she rose to her feet and came to sit on the chair beside my bed. “Hey. Should I call a doctor?”
“You’re a nurse? What should you do?”
She smiled and kissed me on the cheek and forehead. “Does your head still hurt?”
“A little.” As I shifted in bed, she took the remote and adjusted it to my comfort.
