“You’re gonna pay for this!” She clung to me like a shy little girl meeting a stranger. She would have insisted on going with Quinton if she didn’t trust me enough to keep her safe.
By the time we arrived at the Kross mansion, she hadn’t said anything, but I could tell by the way her arms loosened a little around me that she started to enjoy the ride.
As I helped her off the bike, she took off the helmet, put her hands on her knees, and glared at me. “My legs are shaking. I thought I was gonna die. It was the scariest ride I’d ever been on.”
I wanted to tell her ‘not the k********g’, but the last thing I wanted for her to remember was that horrible incident. I threw my key to Quinton.
