His arm came instantly around me. In a husky voice, he asked, “Where are you going?”
I couldn’t look him in the eye. “You can stay, and I’ll go.”
“Where?”
I lifted my head and sat down. “I know cuddling isn’t your thing, and this is not—”
“A part of the agreement?” Now he looked pissed. “If you were talking about the other night, I was an asshole. I still am.” He reached out. “Let’s lie down.”
“Are you sure?”
“I can leave after if you’re not comfortable around me.”
I lay down, my head on his shoulder. With his arm around me, his fingers began tracing lazy patterns on my skin. “Or the other way around.”
“How’s your mom?”
“She gets another two weeks of unpaid leave, but I want her to heal properly before she goes back to work.”
