Silence now reigned in the living room and Carmen did not know where to stand. She was still looking at all the clothes in front of her and wondering what the hell had bitten her husband to make him do that. Kindness? pity? His taking responsibility? He owed her nothing and was not obliged to do anything except her. She looked at Hugo and the latter smiled at her as if nothing had happened. She knew he was making fun of her too.
" Good ! We're not going to spend the day there all the same. I think Carmen should do her fittings.”
“It doesn’t matter now since all these clothes belong to me. The fittings no longer have any use.”
“It’s not to say that we’re going to take them back to the store, it’s just to see and appreciate,” argued Hugo.
