Luna had always believed that small acts of kindness mattered.
Maybe that belief came from growing up in the orphanage. She had seen how a warm meal, a comforting word, or someone simply staying beside another person could change a difficult day.
That was one of the reasons she chose nursing.
Her textbooks were often worn from use, filled with handwritten notes and small reminders she wrote to herself. Anatomy, patient care, medicine, and health assessments filled the pages she studied every night after helping at the orphanage.
She knew becoming a nurse would not be easy.
There were long hours.
Difficult exams.
Days when she felt exhausted.
But every time she imagined helping someone who was scared or alone, she knew she had chosen the right path.
That afternoon, Luna sat near the orphanage window with her books open, carefully reviewing her notes while the younger children played nearby.
"Luna, are you studying again?"
She looked up and smiled.
One of the children was standing beside her, looking at the pages with curiosity.
"Yes. I have an exam soon."
"Are you going to become a doctor?"
Luna laughed softly.
"No. I want to become a nurse."
"Why?"
Luna looked down at her book.
Because she remembered what it felt like to need someone.
"Because everyone deserves someone who cares for them when they are hurting."
The child seemed satisfied with the answer before running away again.
But Luna did not notice the person standing outside the entrance.
Alex Blackthorn had not planned to stay long.
That was what he told himself.
He had simply come to check on the orphanage.
At least, that was the reason he gave Adrian.
But now he stood quietly near the doorway, watching Luna help the children before returning to her studies.
She was different from everyone he knew.
People around him usually wanted something.
Power.
Status.
Recognition.
Luna wanted nothing.
She did not even realize how rare that was.
She is a healer.
Shadow's voice appeared.
Alex looked away.
"She is a nursing student."
Her purpose is still the same.
Alex frowned slightly.
"You are making assumptions."
Shadow remained calm.
You are the one who keeps returning.
Alex ignored that.
Luna noticed him a moment later.
Her eyes widened slightly.
The man from the rain.
Again.
"You came back."
The words escaped before she could stop them.
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"Is that surprising?"
"A little."
For some reason, her honesty amused him.
"Why?"
Luna hesitated.
"Because people are usually busy."
Alex looked around the orphanage.
"And you think I am not?"
She gave a small smile.
"I think someone like you probably has many important things to do."
Someone like you.
The words stayed with him.
Because Luna still had no idea who he was.
She only saw a person.
Not the Alpha King.
Not the CEO.
Just Alex.
"I brought something," he said.
Luna looked at the box in his hand.
Her expression immediately became cautious.
"What is it?"
"Supplies."
"For the orphanage?"
She looked surprised.
Alex nodded.
"The children need them."
Luna looked at the box, then back at him.
"You didn't have to."
"I know."
That answer caught her attention.
Most people who helped expected gratitude.
Alex simply stated a fact.
He knew he did not have to.
He chose to.
"Thank you," she said quietly.
This time, she did not apologize.
Alex noticed.
A small change.
But he noticed.
Later, as Luna helped organize the supplies, Alex watched from a distance.
Mrs. Grace approached him.
"You are different from what I expected."
Alex looked at her.
"What did you expect?"
She smiled.
"Someone who helps because he wants to be praised."
His expression remained unreadable.
"And what do you think now?"
Mrs. Grace looked toward Luna.
"I think you are trying to understand her."
Alex said nothing.
Because that was exactly what he was doing.
When Alex returned to the car, Adrian was waiting.
The moment Alex entered, Adrian looked at him.
"Another visit?"
Alex glanced at him.
"Do you have a problem?"
"No."
Adrian smiled.
"I just find it interesting."
"What?"
"You keep finding reasons to go back."
Alex looked out the window.
"I am observing."
"Of course."
Adrian tried not to laugh.
"Observing the same girl three times?"
Alex gave him a cold look.
Adrian immediately looked away.
"Fine. I said nothing."
Meanwhile, somewhere far from the human world, the Moon Priestess stood beneath the light of the moon.
She closed her eyes as she felt something ancient beginning to awaken.
The bond had formed.
The path had begun.
But the Moon Goddess remained silent.
Because some truths could not be given.
They had to be discovered.
That night, Luna placed another paper flower beside her books.
She still did not understand why Alex kept appearing.
She did not know what kind of world he came from.
And she definitely did not know that his entire world had already begun noticing the small changes caused by one human girl.
