Chapter 15

Hazel POV    I couldn't believe that Xavier did all this for our date. There were four pillars with drapes wrapped around them decorated with yellow lightings and lanterns. A table with two chairs was at the middle of the four pillars , it was all done at the middle of the beach. The sky was lit up with thousands of stars and the sound of the waves was so peaceful. It was simple but elegant in its own way.     Xavier pulled a chair for me and I thanked him then he went to sit on his own.     “I can't believe you did all this.” I exclaimed leaving him completely surprised.     “And why is that?” He asked with his brows furrowed.      “Well I didn't think that the mafia leader could be so romantic.” I gave a mischievous smile. He shrugged his shoulders dismissively.     “It really wasn't my decision to be a mafia leader.” I stared at him in confusion and nodded my head for him to continue.        “I was 16 when my dad died, my mother was already dead by then. He was going to Attack one of the gangs but while fighting he got shot  and he died. One of the leader killed him ." His voice held a certain edge to it. He was struggling to talk about it.     “You don't really have to do this.” I assured him while placing my hand on top of his. He took my hand in his and threw a tight smile.      “You need to know about this. I don’t want to hide anything from you. I was shattered upon seeing his dead body. It took me a lot to cope up with his death but I had to do it. There was no other way. When I turned 18, I took over the g**g and became the leader. From then on, I have been leading it.”  I felt my heart break for him. He was strong and I admired him for that. The thing that touched my heart was that he trusted me enough to share his deepest sorrows. I felt grateful to know that.      “I am glad you shared it with me.” He gave me a weak smile and placed a menu in front of me.      “Shall we order?” I nodded my head and went through the menu.       After a few minutes, Xavier called the waiter. He was formally dressed and gave a flirty smile which threw me off guard.     “What would you like to order?” He asked me ignoring Xavier’s presence. I looked at Xavier to see his hands clenched and he was literally shaking. I gave him a smile which fortunately caught his attention and he returned it.     “I would like a steak with mashed potato and…” He turned to me.     “A cheese burger with fries.”     “And also a new waiter.” Xavier added at the last. The waiter left after scribbling down our orders. I pointedly looked at Xavier trying hard not to laugh.     “What? He was flirting with you.” He exclaimed giving a stern look.     “Relax, I am not running away with him.”      “You better not.”  He warned and turned his eyes into slits. The food arrived surprisingly quickly. I wonder how he managed to do all this. Dinner in the middle of the beach.     “So what's your favourite colour ?' I asked him while taking a sip from my wine trying to make small talk.   “Why are you asking me that?”     “I don't really know much about you.” I answered in a duh tone.     “But why start with colour?”I  shrugged my shoulders.     “My favourite  Colour is blue and black. Yours?”       “Black and pink. Favourite food?”     “Spaghetti with meatballs.”     We continued to talk like that for hours. I enjoyed his presence. He was easy to talk to. Music was turned on. Everything felt so surreal. Suddenly, he got up from his chair and held out his hand for me.      “Can I have a dance with you?”I  smiled and placed my hand on his. Thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran blasted through the speakers.     He placed his hands on my waist and I placed mine on his shoulders. We swayed to the beats while looking into each other's eyes. His eyes were beautiful. In that moment everything was perfect. He leaned in and his lips touched mine. The kiss was soft and it spread warmth and tingles all over my body. He slid his tongue into my mouth. Our lips moved in sync. He pulled away and placed his forehead against mine. I was panting from the kiss. I opened my eyes to see him staring at me. He gave me a warm smile which I returned.       “Shall we leave now?”He nodded his head and intertwined his fingers with mine. He placed a chaste kiss on my hand as we walked hand in hand to his car.     “Thanks.” I said after getting into the car.     “For what?” Confusion was written on his face.      “For everything. I really enjoyed tonight.”    “Me too.”     Tonight was indeed amazing. I got to know a lot of things about Xavier and also his past. Everything was going smoothly between us and I wanted it to remain like that.
