Chapter 20: The Hidden Facility Two days later, Adrian arrived with news. Real news. The kind that changed everything. He entered the hotel room carrying a folder. His expression was grim. "I found something." Serena immediately stood. "What is it?" Adrian placed several documents on the table. "The warehouse." Her pulse quickened. "What about it?" "I think I found it." Silence filled the room. Lily looked up from the couch. "You found the place from Mom's memory?" "Maybe." Adrian spread out several maps. One location had been circled in red. An abandoned industrial district on the edge of the city. Official records claimed the building had been empty for years. But Adrian wasn't convinced. Neither was Serena. By sunset, the three of them were standing outside the massive structure. The warehouse looked abandoned. Broken windows. Rusting metal walls. Overgrown weeds. Yet something felt wrong. Too quiet. Too clean. As if someone had deliberately maintained the property while pretending it was deserted. Serena pushed open a side door. The rusty hinges groaned. Darkness greeted them. They switched on flashlights and stepped inside. Dust covered most surfaces. But footprints marked the floor. Recent footprints. Someone had been here. Recently. They followed the tracks deeper into the building. Past stacks of old crates. Past abandoned machinery. Past empty offices. Then Lily stopped. "Mom." Serena turned. "What is it?" The girl pointed toward a wall. At first glance it looked ordinary. Then Serena noticed something. A small metal panel. Hidden behind years of dust. Her heart began racing. Without knowing why, she reached toward it. Pressed her hand against the scanner. A beep echoed through the warehouse. Everyone froze. Then a section of the wall slowly slid open. Revealing a secret passage. Adrian stared in disbelief. "How did you know that was there?" Serena couldn't answer. Because she didn't know. She simply... remembered. Somewhere deep inside her mind, the knowledge had been waiting. Hidden. Just like the memories. The passage led downward. Into darkness. Into secrets. Into the past. And as the hidden doorway fully opened, Serena felt a terrible certainty settle over her. Whatever answers they were looking for— They were about to find them. And those answers might change everything they believed about themselves.
