Suddenly, he feels like he hit a wall that was always there but he didn’t see until he smacked right into it. He’s upset. It strikes him as unfair. He wants to protest.
But he can’t. He won’t. Wes will wait.
Wes sighs and he can tell it’s uncommon behavior for him even as Ollie blinks and turns to him. Ollie glances at Wes and, when he sees Wes tense, Ollie visibly abandons his train of thought. Wes, on his part, tries to rearrange his face, but lying was never his strong suit and it only makes Ollie stiffen. When Ollie directs a questioning look, complete with raised eyebrows, Wes tries to tell him that everything’s alright, but Ollie doesn’t accept it, Wes doesn’t either, and neither do the kids.
