I finally learned the truth. That day, Greta had threatened to harm herself unless Lucas came to see her. Lucas never liked Greta, but when confronted with a naked woman, temptation got the better of him. Unexpectedly, Ada saw them together. Our daughter was distraught and said she would tell me everything. Greta panicked and tried to stop her. I knew it wasn't our marriage she was worried about; it was her reputation and Lucas's. During their struggle, my daughter was pushed to the ground and hit her head on a sharp rock which I found earlier. All three thought my daughter was dead, and in a panic, Greta decided to use her asthma to cover up the truth. "But there's one thing that puzzles me," I interrupted. "If she was already dead, why was there reed fluff in her nose and mouth?
