Bone doesn't just snap. It wetly caves. The sound echoed off the subterranean concrete like a gunshot wrapped in raw meat. Ryan’s scream didn't last long. It peaked, shattered, and then his eyes rolled back as his nervous system completely shut down from the sheer, catastrophic agony. Jane watched the blood pool around Ryan’s ruined kneecaps. It was ruining his suede loafers. A completely useless thought. She noted it anyway. The red emergency lights pulsed, casting long, frantic shadows across the underground garage.
