I’m hiding in my office, my mum just got back from Paris with my dad and they are trying to get me to have a big party and invite a few packs from their travels to see if I can find my mate. I’m 29 in 2 weeks and I still have no mate, when I turned 18, I started looking for my mate, but I couldn't find her, after a few years of failed attempts I stopped searching and just started sleeping with any female that took my fancy. Being the new alpha of the Blackstone pack and alpha king to the world of were wolves had its perks. Much to the disgrace of my mum who hates that I bedded anything that moved.

I hear a commotion outside my office, I put down the finance reports I have been working on and listen to the conversation going on outside

“no, you tell him” I hear my brother whispering “you’re is best friend, he’ll listen to you”

“ha yeah right. When does he listen to either of us” I hear my beta laugh,

“you know I can hear you both out there?” I yell to the door. The whispering stops, someone knocks on the door

“ENTER” I yell, might as well get this over with. Carl my beta and Kane my Gamma walk into my office

“What do you want?” I return my gaze back to the finance reports, I feel Kane walk into the room and get himself comfy on my leather couch while Carl stands in the doorway, I look at him and he seems nervous “is anything wrong carl?” I look between my beta and gamma. I see carl gulp and come further into the room

“it’s my dad”

“what about your dad?” I look at my brother who shrugs

“he’s gone to get my sister” carl winces as he says the word sister

“why, what’s happened to Arabella?” his sister is only small, same age as my sister penny I hope nothing is wrong

“Ary is fine, I’m talking about my older sister.” I look at carl puzzled

“you don't have an older sister” I see carl gulp again “what is going on carl?” I stand up from my desk I have never seen carl so scared of me than right now.

“before my dad found my mum he was with a human woman, he thought he wasn't going to find a mate so settled for a life with this human. They had a child, Rachael. She’s 23 now. A year after she was born my dad was on a trip to California visiting other packs with your dad that's where he met my mum. Obviously the connection was there straight away. He told my mum straight away about Rachael and her mum. My mum didn't understand straight away and refused to let my dad go back to them. Eventually, he convinced her to let him go back to them to end everything with Rachael’s mum. My mum came here to this pack and soon found out that she was expecting me. My dad continued to still see Rachael, but he ended his relationship with her mum. He left them when Rachael was 8, he didn't tell me why he stopped going to see Rachael.” I stare at carl shocked at his story

“so why is he going to get her? She isn’t a wolf” humans can live among us if they are mated to a wolf, but it is very rare that a wolf mates with a human, humans do not know of our existence and we keep it that way. We live among them just fine and even go to human school until were 16

“her mum was killed in a car accident a few weeks ago. She’s all alone now and my dad said he couldn't just leave her to fend for herself. He still watches out for her; I’ve seen him sneaking out at night sometimes. I followed him once and he just watched her house, I could tell he was sad and that he missed Rachael.”

“so you dad has gone to get his human daughter to bring her back to the pack house. Does she know anything about our kind? Does he understand the risk he is taking?” I raise my voice at carl who bows his head, I compose myself. I never talk to carl or Kane like this. They are my closest friends, well Kane is my brother but still. I treat my pack members with respect.

“I don't know what she knows, I have only seen her once and that was a few years ago now. I just thought you should know what my dad’s intentions are. I don't think she will be any trouble” I laugh at carl

“women are always trouble” both men laugh with me “I guess we will see what happens. Find out when he intends to return so we can have a nice welcome for her. I’m sure you, DeeDee and Arabella would like to be the first to meet her. She is welcome to stay in the pack house until you can sort out living arrangements, she can have one of the guest rooms in your wing that way she will be close to you and Annie, I know your parents cottage doesn't have an extra room.”

“Thanks Zan, I don’t think my dad really thought that far ahead when he heard about her mums accident. I will call him and find out what his plans are” Carl leaves my office I slump down in my office chair

“well this is going to be interesting” I look at my brother who shrugs

“something interesting is always happening around here” he stands up “oh by the way, mum still wants to have that alpha party. You know what she’s like once she has a plan in mind” he chuckles as he leaves my office “later bro”

I rub my hands over my face and reel over all the information I’ve just been given. It certainly never gets boring around here.
