Cedric's back was towards me as we were walking. His tall frame hid most of the path ahead of us but I couldn't complain. Since I had met him, anywhere we had been, had felt safe, much safer than even being in my own house.
The village had seemed much closer than it was in reality. The tall grass had been giving small cuts on my legs but it would be more for Cedric who was trimming those off with his sword since the time we had begun walking. I could ask if I could be of any help but I didn't know how to use the sword and I wasn't sure if I would be able to pick it up at all, it looked heavy. I knew if we didn't reach soon, he would get tired and it would be dangerous for us to be in the forest at that time.
