ANABEL'S POV
Finally.
Without wasting any time, I immediately answered and placed the phone against my ear. Before speaking, I took a small breath and quickly wiped my eyes with the back of my hand.
"Hi, Chloe," I said.
Even though I tried to hide the fact that I had just been crying, I did a terrible job. Honestly, I don't even know why I tried. Anyone could hear it. Even someone standing a mile away could probably tell I had been crying just from the way my voice sounded.
"Hey, are you okay?" she asked immediately. Of course, she noticed. That was Chloe. She always noticed.
"Yeah, I'm fine. How are you?" I asked.
"I'm okay. I'm sorry I had to leave you yesterday. You got me really worried when my texts and calls weren't going through," she said.
