I looked down at my hand as if expecting to see it held in his. I rubbed my fingers and thumb together. As if forcing myself to realize he was gone, and I was alone with only my memories of him to keep me company. I looked back at the cab waiting for me to finish my business here. I knew it was time to leave, but I couldn’t turn my back on T.J. down there somewhere walking the streets of the city. I wondered if he was back sitting where I first saw him, under the window of Twin Peaks. I had offered to keep the payments up on the rental so he would have a place to stay. He refused saying that he’d rather go back to the streets then to stay in the apartment without me. I understood his reasoning, but it didn’t make thinking about him back on the street any easier. I felt an ache in my groin
