"I'm so sorry." Miguel apologized and closed the door swiftly. He exhaled out with his eyes closed.
Linda covered the little part her hands could contain , she closed her eyes out of embarrassment. No man has ever seen her nakedness, not even Stanley.
Why didn't I lock the door from behind?
After a few minutes, she heard a knock from the door, her heart skipped a beat. "Why is he here again? At least, he remembered to knock this time around." She muttered, rolled her eyes before saying a word.
"Who is there?" She questioned.
"It's the maid Ma'am, dinner is ready, and the boss is waiting for you." The maid delivered the message.
"Alright, I will be down in a few seconds." She replied, the maid left.
Linda paced to and fro across the room, with her palms colliding with each other.
"How will I face him? How will I react?." She muttered the questions, her stomach began to rumble. A frown appeared on her face.
"There is no way I'm skipping dinner." She said to herself and marched out of the room.
Miguel tilted his neck as she descended the stairs, the image of her nakedness displayed in his mind. "She has the best curves." He ended up staring at her until she was seated.
Linda was getting uncomfortable but didn't know how to make him stop staring. The chef came in and bowed.
"Should I serve the food now?" She asked in a pretty loud voice on noticing what was happening.
"Yes, yes..." He replied all of a sudden, Linda gave out a sigh of relief. The chef starts dishing out their food.
Linda and Miguel passed glares at each other until they finished eating.
He pushed his seat backwards after using the napkin.
"Meet me in my room after dinner." He informed,, and walked away. Linda shot him a deadly glare as he walked.
"He is too arrogant to apologize, it's not his fault anyway." She muttered, hissed silently.
Linda stopped in front of his door and placed a gentle knock on it after thinking about it for a few minutes.
"Come in." He permitted it with his masculine voice. She knob down the handle, pushed the door a little and walked in.
"You ask me to..."
"I remember telling you that, there is no need for a reminder." He cut her off and raised his head. Linda only sighed with a response.
"Make yourself comfortable on that couch, it is more expensive than you think." He added and cleared his throat.
"His arrogance is getting out of hand, and he brags a lot." She thought with a disgusting expression on her face.
Miguel took the file lying beside him and threw it at her. "I don't need this marriage at all, so that is a marriage contract. It contains the rules and regulations, the payment and the duration. Read through to get things right before signing." He explained.
Linda lowered her head to read, even though she was not given access to many things, but they made sure she was educated.
"60 million dollars??" She questioned out of surprise. There is no way someone who is bankrupt will be able to pay such an amount of money.
"Yes, is it too small?"
"No, I'm surprised because everybody knows you don't have any money." She explained, Miguel laughed moderately.
"Yes, the world believes I'm bankrupt, but I'm still Miguel, the young successful business person who has won lots of awards and my financial status remains the same." He revealed himself, Linda marveled. "Only if Lily knew Miguel was not who they portrayed him to be then she would have married him." She muttered underneath her breath, still in surprise.
"That doesn't guarantee that you should ask me for money, because a gold digger like you always finds means to extort money from people."
"I'm not that kind of person. Well, I'm done with the contract, everything is perfect. Nobody is disturbing each other, just two strangers living in a house." She stated, Miguel nodded his head.
Linda picked up a pen and signed the papers before passing it to him.
"My parents will come visit for dinner, make sure you dress well and put on your acting skills. No mistakes must be made." He informed with warnings included.
"No problem. Can I leave now?" She asked, narrowing her eyes at his eyes.
"Yes, there is nothing to discuss." He dismissed her. She stood up and walked out majestically.
Miguel could not take his eyes off her back, he sighed after she shut the door. "Thank goodness she is gone, her beauty wasn't easy to resist." He muttered and took in his lips seductively.
"Good evening my daughter." Miranda replied to Linda and hugged her tightly.
"Good evening Dad." Miguel greeted his Dad, he rolled his eyes, moved closer to the couch and sat down.
"Have you been taking good care of her?" He asked with a stern look.
"Yes Dad, I started by sending the best designers to change her wardrobe and making sure she eats very well." Miguel explained to his father. He noticed something was off about him.
He tilted his neck to face Linda. "Is it true he did all of that?" He asked her for confirmation.
Linda didn't say a word for a few seconds, Miguel became worried and pleaded with her through his eyes.
"That's true, he also planned to take me to a beach, but there is no date for it yet." Linda supported him, he gave out a relieved sigh.
"I was about scolding him for treating you wrongly." Miranda joked, they laughed. Linda winked at him to show she could turn things around.
"How have you been coping with him?I know he is a naughty boy." Miranda said while walking over to a sofa with Linda.
"Mum, that shouldn't be what you should be asking her." Miguel cautioned angrily.
"She has every right to ask her since she is your wife." Thompson supported his wife. Linda smiled at him in mockery.
"He hasn't revealed his naughty side yet, maybe in the near future. So happy to see you, Mum." Linda replied happily. Miguel smiled sheepishly.
"Thank goodness things are going smoothly. She is a great actress, I like that. They can never guess this marriage is contracted." He thought and smiled.
"You might have heard about the news going around that he is bankrupt, debunk it because there is nothing like that." Miranda informed her... Linda only smiled.
"He told me about it already."
"That's so sweet of him." She replied, looking at her son with a smile.
"You are doing a great job, all I want is the best for you, nothing more. It is evident you are truly happy about this marriage. Make sure you hold on to it tightly." Thompson advised calmly. Miguel nodded.
A maid climbed down the stairs and walked up to them. She greeted them.
"I have cleaned your room, Ma'am. Your room is also clean sir." The maid informed them. They looked at her in shock.
"You live in separate rooms?" Miranda asked in astonishment.
"I must fire her after this visit. She ruined everything with her by dumbness. I should have done something about that before coming. What should I do?" Miguel's mind was troubled.
Linda looked at him to ask what should be done, confusion was written all over his face already.
"Why are you guys living in separate rooms?" Thompson questioned in a deep tone, looking at both of them simultaneously.
