Emily’s POV
I stood in front of the council, feeling the weight of their stares boring into me. I could see Lia smirking from the corner of my eye, enjoying the spectacle she had orchestrated. I couldn’t help but chuckle slightly at her smug expression. She was far too confident for someone who had spun such a web of lies. The three council members didn’t take their eyes off me as the tension in the room thickened.
“Alpha Emily, you stand accused of attempting to steal another’s mate. It’s been said that you ensured she never returned to the pack. Do you have anything to say in your defense?” one of the elders questioned sternly.
I almost laughed out loud. Was that really what Lia told them—that Drake was her mate? The lies were so blatant it was almost comical.
