PROLOGUE

PROLOGUE

My feet landed with a thud on the ground. The world is dark at first but starts to brighten up as my eyes turn white, my wolf coming out a bit. I make out trees, plenty of trees all around me. Somehow I ended up in the woods. I looked down to see that I'm still wearing my outfit from last night, complete with my pink sneakers. Weird.

The atmosphere is quite windy though. The branches of the trees swaying and the leaves rustling but I can't hear anything. It is eerily quiet. I can feel the wind though, on my face, in my hair - messing it up. It feels as though I'm watching the scene on TV with the volume off. I don't like it at all.

Goosebumps starts to break out on my arms. My wolf remains silent. The entire situation is unsettling. I try to take a step forward but my legs refuse to move. I try again and this time, there is a dull ache in my legs. I start to panic.

I look towards a distance where the trees separate to clear a path. The trees all sway in one direction as if dancing to a tune by the wind only they can hear. I can't see anything there. it's like the trees are running away from a big black hole. What is this place? I tried to think of where I was last but I come up blank. All I remember is that my clothes are from last night but I can't remember where I was last night.

In the distance, I suddenly see a blur of movement. I can't make out what it is. It's too far and the creature is moving too fast. As it comes closer, almost out of the black hole, I notice that it is an animal, a big animal and I'm directly in it's path. I tried to move my legs but they just feel stuck and the movement make the ache in my legs to increase. The animal is close now and I start to really panic. If I remain in my position, it will definitely take me out. When the animal is about 20 feet away from pummeling me to my death, it's features became clear and I realize it's a wolf. A silver wolf with black eyes. I start to scream because this is bad. All my fears are coming true. The wolf came close, so close and I start screaming so loud and then

I wake up.
