Perched on the window sill, was a large, white phoenix, with eyes shining as brightly as the sun. Its body was slender and elegant, with long, magnificent white feathers which fell to the ground like a rippling gown around its feet. The edges of its plumes faded into a glittering golden dust - as its jewel-like beady orbs stared intently at the little girl in front of it. A moment of silence pervaded the air as Irene marvelled at the spirit in front of her. As elegant as a crane and beautiful as a peacock - yet everything about it felt mystifying and fantastical.
