Chapter 10
The painkillers the hospital gave me were taking a while to kick in, and with every stab of pain, I became more and more tetchy. I didn’t want to snap at Andre, so I went and hid in the office, called Joleen and received a brief update on Mia before Joleen launched into questions.
‘Did someone really try to kill you?’ she asked, managing a gasp before I could even answer.
‘No. Who said that?’ They might be right but no way was I admitting it to Joleen.
‘Someone posted it on the Candlebark f*******: page.’
‘Who?’
