Chapter 2
He continued his push and pull tactics. He would advance and retreat like a predator scanning his prey. It felt like we were playing a never ending game and he had full control.
The silence stretched on, he seemed unaffected while the silence was slowly eating away at me.
“Stop biting your lips” he said somewhat unfazed.
I abruptly stopped. I lowered my head, embarrassed.
“Xavier Nightshade”
“Hm?” I called out dazedly
“My name is Xavier Nightshade”
He said it more clearly, I scratched my head dazedly only realizing how stupid I was.
“How can you save me?” I asked truly intrigued.
“Save you?” He scoffed.
“I don’t save people”
I tightened my fist, feeling stupidly naive for thinking a stranger could save me. Honestly what was I thinking! I scolded myself in my head.
“We remake them…”
“We?” I asked confused with the dynamics.
“I work in organization that remake broken people…”
“You can call us the Redeemers ” he said calmly
I rolled my eyes in exasperation. He let out a dark chuckle. I can’t help but notice how his bewitching hazel eyes and his dark charisma captivate me .
He is more of a mystery than a threat. He got close enough to see through me but you could never see through him.
“It’s called Erebus Veil”
It rolled off his tongue so naturally. It felt like he had said it so many things, he probably has tho…
“They turned you into nothing and we will turn you into their worst nightmare”
“It sounds like a fairytale..” I said skeptically, contradicting him.
He smirked amusingly,
“You will never know if you don’t go..”
Xavier’s eyes darkened with something dangerous, danger or even hunger.
“But it comes at a price…”
“Once you’re in,there’s no going back.”
“You’ll feel less, become sharper….even deadlier.”
I looked down at the chaos one last time then back at him.
The old me was dead.
No need to hold back.
I took his out stretched hand.
“Fine,” I whispered. “Make me their nightmare”
As his grip tightened around mine,I felt the first spark of something I hadn’t felt in months.
Purpose..
And maybe, just maybe, the beginning of hell.
Without a second to spare, he dragged me off the rooftop and into a secret passageway . He grabbed my wrist tightly, dragging me along . As we reached the ground floor of the building I glanced back at the scene that blurred behind us. The police were still surrounding the building. The firemen just stared and the group of cursing crowd still remained.
With a swift turn, we smoothly ran into an alley. It was a short cut leading to the other road allowing us to swiftly avoid the police. As we continued running, a slick black SUV pulled up beside us. He dragged me inside and the car sped off.
The inside of the car screamed luxury. The pure black leather of the seats and the interior felt like royalty. I settled in the seat, catching my breath. The further the car went the more deserted the area was. Still the car was taking a lot of turns.
I felt like ants were gnawing at my feet. My hands slowly clenched at the side. My eyes unknowingly surveyed the environment.
I felt his hand on my leg and his intense gaze on my face. I looked up to meet his gaze. He seemed more amused than annoyed.
“ Don’t you think it’s too late to rethink now?”
He asked while his hand slowly creeped up my leg. I tried to push off his hand but his grip became stronger, it was clear he wouldn’t let go without an answer. His hand creeped deeper in my dress, his hand resting on somewhere it shouldn’t be.
“I don’t have second thoughts”
I avoided his gaze, staring at anything that was not him. His wandering hand was making me hot and distracted with need. I tried to ignore the fact he could feel the heat between my legs.
“Good…”
“It’s too late anyway”
The car stopped abruptly. He got out of the car and started heading over to the building in the distance. I stared dazedly at the man infront of me before trailing behind him, making my way to the building that would change everything.
He’s dangerous and I shouldn’t follow him
But his offer is deadly addictive
And his looks … Attractive.

Back at the Sullivan Mansion…
“Sir…”
Leo, Julian’s assistant, spoke up after hesitating for a while .
“Don’t you think throwing Fia to the hungry crowd was…a bit cruel?”
Leo exiled loudly, his face partly red. Although the last part was almost inaudible Julian heared it and his face turned pot black.
Julian glared daggers at his assistant. Leo lowered his head, trying to avoid Julian’s deathly stare.
‘Bang!’
Julian slammed his pen angrily on the table. The piercing sound echoed sharply in the quiet study.
He stood up abruptly, his long leg striding toward Leo. Leo’s head remained bowed. He stood frozen in the same position, too scared to speak.
Julian stopped beside Leo, his gaze lingered on him for a while before he spoke up.
“Destiny stood against us”
“Time would have slowly unraveled truths that would have made it impossible for us to stay together”
Leo raised his head, his sharpen gaze locking down on Julian.
“Destiny?”
Leo sneered, causing Julian to raise a brow.
“Truth be told, you started destroying her before she could see it”
Julian didn’t bother to look at Leo. His gaze was fixed on his watch as if he didn’t have time to spare.
“Are you trying to act righteous?”
“Don’t forget you had a part to play in this..”
“Or did you suddenly grow a conscience?”
Julian’s off hand response caught him off guard.
“Or did you forget how easily you turned against her?”
Julian walked off, leaving Leo in his own train of thoughts.
Downstairs, Mia and Julian’s mother were fussing over the newly acquired assets.
“Is this ours?”
Mia brimmed with excitement, scanning the documents on the table while Miss Sullivan, Julian’s mother patted her head and smiled alongside her.
The greed on their faces was too terrifying. Julian watched the scene from below smiling calmly.
Miss Sullivan sighted Julian on the staircase. She waved him over, the unconcealed happiness shining in her eyes.
She spoke with Julian for a while before leaving the sitting room. Julian moved over to Mia and pinned her down on the couch.
Julian’s and Mia’s breathing was erratic. The undisguised lust in their eyes was visible to anyone watching.
Julian scooped Mia up and headed towards their room.
“Can Fia satisfy you like me?”
Mia whispered into his ear.
“As a best friend…you sure don’t act the part”
Julian laughed darkly, kicking the door shut behind him.
