Madison was coming back today, marking two months since Daniel and I had started dating. I hadn’t spoken to him since we parted ways last Friday, and despite him returning Monday night, I hadn’t seen him at all.
Jerry was visiting his grandparents and planned to return on Saturday, hopefully in time for school on Monday, which I was dreading.
"Jordan, why haven’t I seen Daniel?" Mom asked.
"Oh, we broke up last Friday," I shrugged.
"What? Why?"
"It’s complicated," I sighed.
"Do you want to talk about it? It might help," she offered.
"I'm fine, really, Mom," I insisted.
"I thought you two would last," she sighed.
"Maybe we weren't meant to be," I shrugged.
