Chapter 10
All that night Kindel couldn't sleep because she was thinking about what Wyatt said about his family. How can she even think she can be with someone like him? Not only is he a NFL player, but he grew up privileged. All their time they spent together last night, she found out that his family was very close, but his mom could be cold. She was the one who came from money, and she had the power in the family. While he was growing up, she would always impede his happiness, saying that people like us do not act like this or we do not date people like that. His passion was to help people, but his mother did not want him to get into anything nonprofit because he should be the CEO of a corporation. He did not listen and founded the nonprofit to help s****l assault and also human trafficking victims , for women and children. He helped many people, and he could get more and more employees. His dad worked as a lawyer in a huge law firm. He had three other siblings: two sisters and a brother. One sister was older, and the others were younger. They all lived close to one another, so they would spend Saturday nights together at a family dinner. The dinners weren't always a good time because there was tension with his mother and someone else. Kindel didn't know what to think about all this. She had never seen a family like this. Her family was very close when she could still see them. They did a lot together: Sunday nights, holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. They spent them all together. Kindel wanted to contact her parents again so she could see them again because it had been years. She was scared that Travis was watching them to see if she was there, but she didn't think that he could bug their phone line. That morning Kindel got her cell phone and called her parents. On the second ring, she heard a male voice say, "Hello." It was her father. She didn't know what to say, so she just said, "Dad?" She heard him take a deep breath, and he said, "Kindel, is that you?" She told him, yes it's me! I finally left Travis! I couldn't take it anymore. She heard crying on the other end of the phone, and she heard her mom say, "baby did he hurt you?" She didn't know how to answer that, so she just said, "The past is the past; let's forget about him." They both said all right. They made plans for her parents to come to her sister's house tomorrow, along with her brother. She was so ready for that; she just could not wait. Kindel got up and took a shower, then went to find Wyatt. She found him in the kitchen making breakfast for them. She just could not believe that he was real, and he wanted her! Kindel put her arms around his back, which startled him at first, but then he turned and hugged her back. She asked him when they were leaving, and he said whenever she wanted to. He said they could stay all day if she wanted to and then go back later that evening. She said that sounded good. They did some water-skiing, and he taught her how to do snorkeling, and then did another picnic. Then they talked some more and got to know one another and started kissing. She gave his tongue access when asked, and it was incredible. They worked in sync with each other. They got boiling and heavy so she pulled away and said she just wasn't ready. Wyatt said he would wait for her as long as it takes, but deep down he wanted to know what was going on and why does she act so skittish around him. She told him she needed to leave in the morning because she had made plans to see her parents and brother for the first time in years. Wyatt was so happy for her making the first step and knew that this took a lot of courage since Travis told her she could not see them. They left that morning, and she could get ready before her parents got there. She was so nervous that she was shaking. Her parents got there around noon, and they all hugged and kissed. Her parents did not want to let go of their daughter, but finally they gave her brother a chance to give her a hug, and then they cried. They were always really close. They stayed the whole day and said that they would keep in touch and never let what Travis happened again.
