Damon and Valerie had just returned home from a symphony in the city. As he opened the front door, servants were posted to take their jackets. "I'm heading to my office, I'll be along shortly," Damon briefly mentioned as he headed down the hallway without even a backward glance. Valarie ignored him; this was so typical of him; even when he was not at work, he was at work. As she climbed into the tub, the events from the day irritated her. Her morning began in litigation again. It did not go well, and instead of the easy settlement her father had wanted her to achieve, the case was indeed proceeding to trial. She was sure to hear about that tomorrow, but that would be tomorrow's problem. Tonight had been torturous from the start. Davius had bought tickets for the symphony for all of them
