Rose’s POV
After I found out that the man at the park didn't show up for the meeting, I developed an uneasy feeling that followed me everywhere. Damien assured me multiple times that I had nothing to worry about, but I was far from convinced about that. I became scared to leave the house, worried that I might run into him again and I wouldn't get so lucky like the last time. Every phone call and every knock on the door had me jumping in fright. Damien caught me a few times. I would flash him a forced smile, but he never bought it—just as I never bought his assurances.
