Turbulent Landing

301 Words
Abigail gently shook the twins awake so they could exit the plane. The day was twice as long due to their flight being delayed by storms. The twins had gotten restless and cranky in the airport. It wasn't a surprise when Abigail had to break up a fight over who got to sit by the window. It was decided that Jerrod would sit by the window the first half of the flight and Lissa would get her turn after that. Shortly after the two switched seats, both children fell fast asleep while Abigail spent the whole flight wide awake. Her mind was busy thinking of what she would do when she arrived back in her old home after so long. Once the small family was off the plane, they gathered their luggage before heading outside. When the twins saw Abigail's parents were standing outside the car waving, they ran to hug their grandparents. Over Jerrod's head, Abigail's mother gave her a sympathetic look when she saw Abigail's troubled expression. The kids were finally wrangled into the car where their energy seemed to dissipate and they were slumped over on either side of Abigail in the back seat snoring.  “When are you going to tell him?" Mrs. Glass asked, referring to the twins' father. ”I’m not sure yet. I've been trying to find the best way since I got Tori's invite,” Abigail sighed. "I say you just rip the band-aid off, it's not going to get any better the longer you wait, Bee,” her father added. “I know you're right, but I need to do this my own way, dad." The car was quiet the rest of the trip while Abigail stared out the dark window not really seeing what was in front of her.
