After a long day in the office, Melissa Bridges decided to hit up the gym. Her argument with her boyfriend, Taylor, was weighing on her mind. She decided now was as good a time as any to start running again. At least she would sleep well before her flight home. Melissa wondered if Taylor was going to be on that flight with her after last night. They had gotten into a heated exchange when Melissa brought up that they had been together longer than Tori and her fiancé but they still weren’t engaged, or even living together yet.
“Why are you always comparing our relationship to other people’s?!” Taylor had accused her. Maybe he was right? They were happy with the way things were for the most part. Sure, Melissa wanted to move forward with the relationship but nothing was wrong. Melissa and Taylor rarely disagreed about things and both treated each other with respect. The only thing they couldn’t get on the same page about was where they each thought the relationship should be.
Frustrated with her thoughts, Melissa turned up the speed on her treadmill, hoping if she pushed herself hard enough that she wouldn’t be able to focus on anything but her workout. Her mind kept up with her though. The couple had taken the two weeks off so they could go to the pre-wedding events and spend time with Melissa’s family. Now Melissa might have to explain why Taylor wasn’t with her. She didn’t want to go home alone especially since she just found out her brother had gotten married. She didn’t want her family to feel bad for her, being the 5th wheel at home.
Melissa finished up her workout winded and no less stressed than she had been when she started. She showered in the locker room and changed her clothes. On her way to the car, she checked her phone. No word from Taylor. Irritated, she shoved her phone back into her bag and drove home. Melissa spent the rest of the night packing before going to bed early. She still didn’t know what to expect in the morning. She wondered if she and Taylor had left the fight broken up or not. She didn’t think so but if he didn’t show up tomorrow she figured she would know then.
