Jake had tried to explain himself to Melissa but she wouldn’t have it. In her mind, he made his choice and now he would have to deal with the consequences. Instead of listening to his pleas on the other side of the door, Melissa went back to her room. She paired her phone with the Bluetooth speaker, put on some music, and turned the volume up until she couldn’t hear him anymore.
An hour later, Jake finally got into his truck and drove away. Melissa peeked out through the curtains when she heard his truck start and flipped him off, not that he saw her.
