Romeo

300 Words
Romeo’s POV – I held on so tight to myself to complete the mass, while carefully examining the congregation. The faster I find him, the faster I leave. I do not want to do this—not with her here... The mass finally ended. I walked away from the altar, with people calling on me and all that shii. I squeezed out every ounce of patience my system could give me as I stood, listened, and did the basics—placing my hands on people. My butt hit the couch hard as I finally breathed in the fresh air I didn’t even realize I was holding. If she is truly the one… then I have to keep her out of this, as much as I can. The phone call with my father ended like it always does—with the beginning of another war. But that’s what it always is. "I am homeless now, Romeo." I read the words. Something in me pulled tight. She’s told me a dozen things… but this one? I felt confused. The nagging urge to help her, like she was my responsibility, hung in my throat as I read and reread the string of messages she sent. My brain raked through suggestions and solutions. If there’s one thing I know—it’s that I cannot help her directly. My father would never hear of it. "I can’t take it, Romeo. I’ll figure something out." No, she won’t. Not on her own. My offer was simple: she’ll stay in one of my penthouses in the city. Close… but secretive, for now. All she has to do is agree—and I’ll have my men pick her up based on her description. We’ll work with that… until I figure out what the hell to do with her.
